Drownin' In Whiskey
02:53
|
|||
Well I spent all day drinkin and it got me thinkin' about everything thats gone wrong.
And it made me wonder why she's still hangin around.
All those ugly nights and the bar room fights, and the times we went to bed still mad
But lovin' her is like drowning in whiskey.
We've had some good times and some tough ones, smashing glasses on the kitchen floor
And I still got every scar from every fight we had.
But in the end, I gotta tell you friend, I wouldnt have it any other way.
Because lovin her is like drowning in whiskey
Its like straight from the bottle of the cheapest whiskey in the worst bar youve ever seen
But you go back every night and lay your money down.
For more more shot of that ol gut rot so you can feel the way you felt before.
Because lovin her is like drowning in whiskey.
Its like straight from the bottle of the cheapest whiskey in the worst bar youve ever seen
But you go back every night and lay your money down.
For more more shot of that ol gut rot so you can feel the way you felt before.
Because lovin her is like drowning in whiskey.
I said lovin her is like drowning in whiskey.

Double Plaid

At quittin time I make my way down to my local bar
To have another pint of that ice cold brew, and a belt from the mason jar.
This place is filled with kids half my age, with no clue about havin a clue
But I'll keep sittin here drinkin moonshine and missin you.
Well that Double Plaids the best I've had when it comes to gettin liquored
Pair it up with a shot of bourbon to get the job done quicker.
That Monkey stout can take you out, boy I've never seen one thicker
Drinking at the Ale House, laughing at the hipsters.
We'll have another round of drinks barkeep, it's the houses turn to buy.
Two more pints of snakebite, and two more shots of rye.
And we'll chase it down with a round of Crown and cokes, but hold the limes
To all my friends, here's to you, here's to the best of times.
When last call hits we'll settle up and tip the cute bartender.
Whos put up with the second night of the famous three day bender.
Well that Double Plaids the best I've had when it comes to gettin liquored
Pair it up with a shot of bourbon to get the job done quicker.
That Monkey stout can take you out, boy I've never seen one thicker
Drinking at the Ale House, laughing at the hipsters.

Barstool
03:08

The day that she walked out, she left without a doubt
In her mind, she'd be gone for good.
I wouldn't hear it, but id broken her spirit
She was sick of feeling misunderstood.
So I called her father, he said Charlie, don't bother,
She's moved on and and you're on your own
So I wrote her a letter, it came back return to sender
And my poor heart sank like a stone.
So now I mend my bruises with the cheapest of boozes,
And I make things fine with cheap wine.
Each tear gets a beer, that's how I ended up here.
On this barstool, at a quarter to nine.
So I called her dear mother, and she called her big brother
To pass on a message to me
A black eye reminder I should stop trying to find her
And I should just let her be.
Well last night I seen her, at the local arena,
at a Lucky Ones show with her friends
I tried to say hello, but she said oh hell no,
I guess this really is the end.
So now I mend my bruises with the cheapest of boozes,
And I make things fine with cheap wine.
Each tear gets a beer, that's how I ended up here.
On this barstool, at a quarter to nine.

The Devil on My Left
02:17

Drinking whiskey like water and breathing cigarette
If there a way to stop thinking I ain't found it yet
And the angel on my right she ain't posing no threat
To the devil on my left, he ain't letting me forget.
It's hard to see the stars when you're face down on the lawn
I passed out by midnight, had my first beer at dawn.
I can't find my keys and my wallet is gone
But the devil on my left, he just keeps holding on.
I keep trying to find answers through hard livin and drink
A bartenders tips are cheaper than a shrink
Tried closing my eyes so I don't have to think
But the devil on my left, he ain't sleeping a wink.
Everything happens for a reason they say
But I've never believed that and still don't today
Some try to find proof when they kneel down and pray
But the devil on my left, he don't see it that way.
The devil on my left, he ain't going away
The devil on my left just keeps leading the way.
